Talk to Live person in our office when you call Kyrene Internal Medicine

Talk to live person in our office when you call our main number 480-598-4145. After all the feedback from our patients, our office is no longer using the automated phone system so you can talk to a live person when you call our office at Kyrene Internal Medicine.

We value all the feedback we received from our patients and have changed our phone systems to make it easier to communicate with our office. Your calls will now be answered by a live person in our office when you call.

Email is still an option when you want to communicate with our office. The best way to communicate is still the patient portal where you questions will be directed to the right person who you can assist you best.

Please be patient as we convert back to live answering, you may experience a few hold times if the person answering the phones is on the phone with another patient seeking assistance.

If you have not created your patient portal account, please be sure to ask for your personal key next time you are in the office.

As usual, we are here to help you with your medical needs, because at Kyrene Internal Medicine, your health is our number one priority.
We look forward to assisting you when you call our office and talk to a live person.

Thyroid Awareness Month is January, discuss with your doctor

Thyroid Awareness Month is a month of the year set aside to create awareness for diseases associated with the thyroid gland. Thyroid awareness is symbolized by a blue paisley ribbon which was introduced in January 2012.

The Thyroid gland is a gland that is found in the neck. This gland not only controls how our bodies make proteins but also how our bodies use energy. The thyroid gland also controls our body's sensitivity to other hormones .

The thyroid gland is able to do so by producing thyroid hormones, the main ones being T3 and T4.

Some common thyroid conditions

Here are some conditions related to thyroid gland.
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Grave's disease
  • Hashimoto's
  • Thyroid Conditions during Pregnancy

Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is a condition, where less than normal thyroid hormones are produced by the thyroid gland.
Symptoms for hypothyroidism may include fatigue, weight gain, constipation, and sore muscles.
Hypothyroidism can be diagnosed by blood tests ordered by your primary care physician.

Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism is a condition where more than normal hormones are produced by the thyroid gland.
Hyperthyroidism symptoms may include weight loss, faster heart rates, frequent and loose bowel movements (diarrhea), hair loss on scalp and anxiety, irritability amongst others.
Your primary care physician can order tests to diagnose if you have hyperthyroidism.

Hashimoto's

Hashimoto's is the most common thyroid disease in the United States and is more prevalent in women than men. Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition.

Grave's disease

Grave's disease is also an autoimmune disease that often results in hyperthyroidism.

How do you get diagnosed with Thyroid Related diseases?

Your primary care physician will be able to order tests and diagnose you. Remember to ask your doctor any questions about the thyroid when you visit this month since this month has been set aside for awareness.
If you live in the Phoenix area, you can schedule an appointment with our office if you think you have symptoms or are concerned about thyroid related diseases.
